Active Learning Schools

About the ALS project

Active Learning Schools (ALS) is a pilot project designed to get ?learning by doing?, or practical learning through experience, at the centre of education rather than an add on to the existing curriculum.

ALS puts learning by doing into practice through strong links with business and community organisations. It aims to create a new model of schooling where young people learn, with the help of teachers, business and other experts, by experiencing directly how knowledge is developed and applied in real world situations and the workplace This model also promotes social responsibility and creativity as well as improving motivation and raising standards.

Martin Yarnit from ALS is running the pilot project.
