Recognition for workplace learning

A new consultancy formed by a partnership between the Edge Foundation and the University Vocational Awards Council. We’re working with top employers and universities to find ways to give academic recognition to workplace learning and make it easier for working people to gain undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

Support and expand

It’s focused mainly on senior professional or technical personnel at large companies, but the scheme should also provide support where simple competence measures are needed. We expect it to improve staff retention rates and help employees develop their careers and enhance in-house training programmes, as well as giving people greater access to higher education qualifications.

Why we need HE@Work

Academia has traditionally failed to recognise work-based learning as a valid type of education. HE@Work is designed to help employers and universities close the gap, finding ways to fulfil workplace learning needs and extend the reach and scope of university education.
