Next Step Guide
A guide to learning options
Next Step Guide
Status: Live
In Brief: Equipping young people with the knowledge to make informed choices

What is the Next Step Guide?

A free 16-page booklet produced in partnership with The Guardian. It was distributed in the paper two days before A-level results day 2008 and is still available to download.

Why we need it

Making educational choices after A-level can be difficult, especially if results were better or worse than expected. And often, discussion of vocational options can fall by the wayside among all the talk about university requirements and clearing.

Positive impact

The Next Step Guide is intended to help young people and parents find out more about vocational and practical learning options at a time when the media’s focus tends to be on academic exam results. It showcases the positive impact that practical learning can have on people’s lives and careers and clarifies the routes available to young people who would prefer to learn by doing.
