Three years of prizes
Established in 2005, the Edge Awards ran until 2008, to celebrate and reward employers offering great practical learning opportunities for young people. Edge gave away more than £1m to reward great practical learning in the workplace. The prize money also helped to fund new learning opportunities.
Why did Edge create the Edge Awards?
Edge believes that employers must play a key part in our education system, and the Edge Awards recognised and celebrated those employers whose education initiatives are leading the way. The awards also helped to open eyes to the unsung diversity and quality of work-based learning.
How it worked
The competition was open to organisations of any size, shape and type, whether private, public or voluntary. Each year more than £300,000 in prize money was distributed among regional and national winners, who had to demonstrate how they would use the money to provide future learning opportunities.
Edge Award Winners
To find out more about the businesses recognised by Edge for their dedication to practical learning take a look at our Edge Awards success stories on the downloadable PDF document on this page. Winners range from a fish and chip shop to a multi-national car manufacturer! Alternatively, see the main Edge Success Stories page for details on outstanding individuals, schools and colleges.
Will the Edge Awards take place again?
At Edge we are always looking for new ways to celebrate, reward and promote practical learning. Although we have decided to no longer run the Edge Awards we continue to work with employers through our employer engagement activities.
