Hands-on education
Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading business and enterprise education charity, running education programmes across the UK for more than 350,000 young people aged from four to 25, offering hands-on business education to young people, with Edge’s support.
Why we need Young Enterprise
Businesses need enterprising, skilled and innovative employees in order to stay ahead of the competition. Young people who have experienced Young Enterprise have all these advantages and more. Young Enterprise makes a real difference to the lives and future potential of students in their community.
Being enterprising
Young Enterprise offers a range of programmes, based on the principle of learning by doing, which brings volunteers from business into the classroom to work with teachers and students.
Edge’s support
As well as creating new projects, Edge likes to promote and support organisations that are already offering great practical learning. That’s why Edge has teamed up with Young Enterprise in a 5 year programme to improve their service, develop new programmes and supporting material, and strengthen links with YE Alumni.
QuickStart Music is a specific programme Edge has supported. This is a shortened version of the Young Enterprise Company Programme which offers groups of up to 50 students aged 13 to 15 the experience of setting up and running their own real mini music enterprise in school. Working in company teams, students take on the full spectrum of music industry functions and roles to put on a music event or produce and sell a music product.
