What is 'Making the Games'?
Delivered by Edge, Making the Games is an
official Olympic 'Inspire Mark' project aimed at inspiring young
people to consider a practical or vocational career. The project
followed key workers on site and behind the scenes of the London
2012 Olympics; from a tennis umpire to a construction worker, a
Paralympic nurse to a Lee Valley park ranger. Through interviews,
working diaries and career histories, each worker provided an
exciting insight into their practical or vocational career.
Inspiring young people
The site provided a bright, engaging and uniquely honest insight
into vocational careers. Young people could ask workers of the
Olympic games questions about their jobs, follow them on Twitter
and share the site with their friends. Teachers were also able to
use the content on the site to inspire their students about
practical and vocational careers and create more engaging lesson
plans.
