A YouGov survey of teachers and FE lecturers in April-May 2007 surveyed awareness and attitudes towards the new 14-19 diplomas.
The research found that awareness of the diplomas at this time was low, although this is to be expected as it was carried out prior to the main campaign about diplomas. Questions covered opinions about diplomas, including whether they would engage learners, whether they would give them the skills needed for employment and what kind of take-up the diplomas would receive. The research uncovered cause for concern that many teachers thought diplomas would be appropriate only for a group of young people, rather than for all of them.
