Evaluations of Practical Learning Programmes

02/07/2009

An Edge conducted evaluation of government-initiated programs that have sought to introduce practical elements into the national curriculum.

The study gives a broad view of the key initiatives and qualifications that have been introduced to promote practical learning. The evaluation assesses programmes aimed at those under 19 years old, and includes an assessment of relevant research into practical learning that has been conducted since Labour came to power in 1997.

The study is divided into two areas of consideration: the first concentrates on specific programmes, which are concerned with promoting or improving practical learning. The second area focuses on particular qualifications that incorporate practical learning, and compares and contrasts them across key assessment points.
