Schools of Tomorrow (SoTo) is a member-owned social enterprise open to all schools seeking values-led, research-informed change.
Launched at the RSA in 2013, a group of school leaders came together with a strong belief that community engagement changes schools for the better, and that schools can help to change communities for the better. Above all, they believe schools and communities working together can radically transform the futures of young people. This is the essence of the Schools of Tomorrow Four Quadrant Framework. This combines a focus on high levels of achievement for each individual with giving equal attention to high levels of wellbeing for all, to highly effective preparation for the future and to high levels of family and community engagement. The balance of these elements is the key to an outstanding education for tomorrow. SoTo’s mission is to turn that rhetoric into reality in schools today.
The Schools of Tomorrow Fellowship provides a distinctive opportunity for school-based research and development as well as rigorous critical friendship for schools, school leaders and their stakeholders. It is intended for those who want to pursue a broad and ambitious vision of school quality and purpose, one that ‘redefines outstanding’. You can find out more here.

“Schools and communities can change one another for the better. Working together, they can radically transform the future of young people.”
“Let us not imagine that we are going to create the outstanding school of tomorrow by continuing to try to incrementally improve the school of today ... we need to re-conceptualise completely."
“The SoTo experience had noticeable effects at my school. For example, the four quadrants became a key part of the school’s agenda to address various goals, in particular, the wellbeing of students whilst at school, ensuring “success” for all students in their further endeavours, and placing value on the wider picture of the school in the community.”
