The Government’s statutory guidance and new careers guidance was issued in December 2017.
This requires all secondary schools to work towards and ultimately meet the Gatsby benchmarks.
Edge have been particularly focusing on helping teachers to meet benchmark 4 which requires all teachers to link curriculum learning to careers. This is because it has proven to be one of the more challenging benchmarks for schools and teachers to meet.
We have worked with employers including the National Theatre and Yorkshire Dales National Park to create curriculum resources which are directly linked to the National Curriculum. Please look at the samples below which are free to download and use in your classroom. If you would like to find out more please contact Helen Beardmore email HBeardmore@edge.co.uk.
As part of Edge Future Learning the Edge Foundation have developed a Project Based Learning (PBL) Toolkit which has been designed to provide an introduction to PBL. The toolkit gives a step by step guide taking the user through the process of designing a project through to implementation. You can download some sample pages from the toolkit below.
We are currently focusing on delivering the toolkit to our hub schools and areas but if you would be interested in finding out more please do get in touch with our Education Delivery Manager Helen Beardmore email HBeardmore@edge.co.uk.
We have supported one of our leading partner schools, XP in Doncaster, to produce a book about their innovative approach – How We XP – together with publishing curriculum materials that you can use or adapt. You can find out more at http://www.xptrust.org/our-curriculum/
