The Studio Schools Trust were awarded a grant of £70k to research the impact of the CREATE Framework used in Studio School.
Warwickshire College Group (WCG) operates local colleges across Warwickshire and South Worcestershire. They received £46,173 from the Post Covid-19 Fund for their WCG Hub project.
The WCG Hub is a cross platform online learning space designed to support students learning in a more flexible way. It will offer fully online and blended learning on a platform that will provide the flexible accessibility needed for education post Covid-19.
The funding will enable the college group to create the online platform and content creation system. It will support the use of a college staff member to create and maintain the new content, working in partnership with local employers and industry professionals. The Hub provides a means of remote assessment and promotes greater flexibility in course start dates. The college will also be able to provide high quality training in the use of the Hub for both staff and students going forward.
It will enable the delivery of fully online courses as well as online delivery of specific course aspects such as digital skills and employability skills. Delivery can be tailored for industry sectors and course specific modules and will support the development of online apprenticeship training. It can also offer student access to tutor support whether they are at the college, in the workplace or learning remotely. Students will be assisted to take charge of their learning, increasing motivation and gaining skills that will match those required for entering the workplace.
Helen Kinghorn, Deputy Principal, WCG"The news that the College group had been awarded the funds from The Edge Foundation was delightful; it really made my day when I heard that we had been successful. The funds are a very welcome support for The Hub project which will allow us to create high quality online courses to support the learning and development of our students.
"The Covid-19 pandemic has changed our lives in so many ways but it's always possible to channel the positive; in this instance we have seen how our students are resilient and adapting to new ways of learning and we want to support them further in developing these traits. These funds will really help us to deliver our project to enhance the learning experience for our students."
