In Our Plan for FE report the main recommendations we had for the FE sector was to become more defined, skills and career focused and collaborative. Since COVID-19, Further Education has been provided with the opportunity to redefine itself and there have been many initiatives since March that have pushed this forward.
It is now even more acknowledged that colleges have a stronger role to play in supporting young and adult learners, as well as highlighting their essential role in the economic revival post COVID-19.
From the AoC’s ‘September Promise’ of guaranteeing access to high quality education or training places this Autumn to every young person who wants one, a joint partnership between AoC and Jisc in shaping the digital future of FE, the college collaboration fund and the development of an FE white paper in progress.
The Edge Foundation will host a discussion to examine how the sector can work closely together to support the future of FE every step of the way.
Discussion points:
- How can we drive forward a new agenda for FE?
- How best can colleges and the sector be supported to implement change post-covid?
- What does the FE white paper need to include to see positive change and outcomes for FE?
- What support can organisations like Edge and other charities, think tanks, policy influencers, research groups working in the FE space provide post COVID-19 when colleges reopen?
