Launched in 2015, Degree Apprenticeships (DA) offer an alternative route towards gaining a degree qualification which combines higher education and work-based learning. Through a number of case studies, this project seeks to gather deeper insight into how DAs are working in practice amongst various stakeholders, their motivation to engage with DAs, and their experience of it. Stakeholders include large employers, SMEs, staff involved at higher education institutions, and apprentices. The project will consider wider issues such as the extent to which DAs contribute towards social equality and whether or not DAs are meeting wider national/local economic and skills needs. Further, we also seek to investigate how DAs might influence the academic/vocational divide.
