How can we encourage more small businesses and young people to get involved in apprenticeships?
In recent months, the government has taken measures to rebalance the apprenticeship system towards young people by shifting the funding rules of the Apprenticeship Levy and introducing Foundation Apprenticeships.
But will this be enough to reverse the decline we have seen in under-19 starts? And what does this mean for SMEs who don't pay the levy, but are more likely to hire young apprentices?
This webinar will explore other options for reform, and launch two new policy reports from Edge, which include options for improving the apprenticeship application and advertising system and how to increase support for SMEs. We will also be launching a brand new campaign to encourage more SMEs to hire apprentices.
We'll be joined by an expert panel to explore these issues in more detail.
Panellists include
- Alice Gardner, Chief Executive, Edge Foundation
- Andrew Pakes MP, Co-Chair Apprenticeships APPG
- Kate Shoesmith, Deputy CEO, Recruitment and Employment Confederation
- Praful Nargund, Director, Good Growth Foundation
- Anna Ambrose, CEO, Workwhile
