We're pleased to see the Government commit to guaranteeing a job or training place for every 18 to 21-year-old on long-term benefits, strengthening their Youth Guarantee promise. With almost 1 million young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) this is more important than ever, and our recent report with the University of Bath outlines the scale of the challenge.
But for this to succeed we'll need to see a real funding commitment and more detail on what support will be available to NEET young people not on benefits. The Government also needs to learn from past policies, like the Youth Training Scheme, so we can get this right for our young people.
